These boots are made for walking

Summer is coming and I am excited, I have had the urge to take up running (or let’s be honest, jogging to start with!) for some time now but did not feel like braving the cold and unpredictable UK weather — plus the best time for me to go out and do it is around 8pm and I would rather not run in the dark, so I have been waiting for the nights to start getting longer and the weather to start getting better.

I am also going to start going on long walks up hills and mountains and all that business with my friend, she has a ‘walking group’ that goes out every other weekend that she keeps inviting me along to. I don’t know any of the other people in the group though so always passed even though I quite fancied now — now I have decided what the heck, what’s the worst that will happen? I may even make some new friends along the way.

I am going to need to save my pennies though as I will need decent running shoes as well as some heavy duty walking boots and probably 101 other things I have not thought about yet.

I have discovered over the last year or so since becoming a fitness freak, that it really isn’t a cheap hobby — after all the machines, accessories, clothing and DVDs I have bought I probably could have just paid to get a little nip tuck instead, heh.

Roll on summer baby!

Argh, frustrated with lack of weight loss

I think I might go ahead and buy diet pills in a few weeks time when I am back from my holiday, I am so sick of putting in so much effort and not losing any thing — it’s so hard to stay motivated when I can eat my 1200 calories and work out 2 hours a day and lose zero weight, then work out for one hour in an entire week and eat over 2500 calories on one day and still not change my weight.

I am at a loss on how to get the blasted scale moving again because I have tried every thing I know :(

Training Military Style

I have had a blasted migraine for exactly one week, how very annoying. It feels like it might have finally passed today, and I hope so because I can’t wait to get back into my exercise — I have not done a thing since last Sunday, eeeep.

Once I am sure I am recovered I am going to feel like I am on the Frontline because I am going to treat this week as though I am in the army…discipline, determination and just going for it.

I have some pounds to lose before a wedding next month!

Come on, no fair!!

Argh, I just can’t get my weight moving at the moment — the last two weeks I was eating 1200 - 1400 calories per day and working out for 2 hours, an hour cardio and an hour toning/weights and I gained two pounds, go figure!

It’s hard to keep motivated when that happens as I am sure you can imagine! If I didn’t know better I would be reaching for the weight loss pills for a quick fix solution right now, especially as I have an event coming up that I want to look great for :)

Sleeping like a log

I have been sleeping like a log recently, which is unusual for me — I don’t usually sleep terribly as such but it takes me a long time to drop off and I am often restless throughout the night and if I need to get up in the middle of it for the toilet or any thing it takes me ages to get back off.

The last two weeks I have been working out, really hard, I have been doing up to three hours per day — an hour in the morning, an hour in the afternoon and an hour in the evening — and come 4am (which is early for me although it probably sounds really late to you, 6am is my normal bed time) I have been barely able to keep my eyes open and have been crawling into bed and being asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow soon after 4am most nights.

Strangely, and it is probably just in my head rather than real, I find that I sleep better in Metal Beds than any other! I can’t see any reason why that would be true, but it really does work like that — I love the design of the dark brown/black leather beds like the ones at Time4Sleep.co.uk but I have trouble dropping off in one, weird huh?

Wut Woo

I know that most women hate this, and I think I do really also — but today I was happy to get a wolf whistle from some work men as we were walking through town. They were all old, unattractive and not looking too sexy in their safety equipment but it was a nice way to remind me I have lost loads of weigh and am looking pretty damn fine these days — more so than I was a few years ago at least when I had a whopping extra five stone on me!

So, booo horrible sexist wolf whistling men — but also, YAY ;)

Eat your Fruit and Veg

I never used to be a fan of vegetables, even as I grew into an adult and got over that childish stage of not liking them, nope — also never been a big fan of fruit.

Then I quit smoking and my palette totally changed, I started liking lots of food I didn’t used to and now I love love love vegetables, each meal my plate is usually made up of at least 33% vegetables, usually more like 50%!

Sadly the same can’t be said about fruit, I thought for sure I would start liking that also but it never happened. I wish it would because fruit is super good for you! There are a few fruits I like and eat regularly and those are grapes, apples and heritage raspberry — also cherry tomato, I think that counts as a fruit!

Birthday Pending!!

I had a little freak out a while ago at the prospect of turning 30 in just around 3 weeks time, I don’t want to say goodbye to my 20s just yet.

It’s a good job I am an idiot and I soon realised I don’t need to, because it is not my 30th birthday in a few weeks time but my 29th — I still have a year of being in my 20s left. Woohoo.

Time to start thinking about what I want as present(s), I always struggle with my birthday because it’s only a few months after Christmas and I usually find there’s nothing I want.

This year I know one thing for sure, my mobile phone stopped functioning properly on Monday so I will need a new one. It’s still usable but the up and down keys don’t work so I have to navigate either using the number pad or the buttons on the side. I only want a cheapish one as a replacement, I don’t need a fancy one so I will probably ask my parents for that.

I also need some new work out gear, I need both indoor and outdoor clothing as well as some good quality running trainers. I have decided the time has come to give running a try, I have been using my elliptical for a year and a half now and can run 10 miles on that with ease — but I want to see how different it is to actually run, out on the mean streets, really pounding the pavement. I know how important it is to have proper gear though, the right clothes and footwear and high visibility stuff, so I have been putting it off because I couldn’t afford it all.

So my birthday seems like the ideal time to get kitted out :)

Infrared Saunas aid weight loss?

Someone mentioned Infrared Saunas to me a while ago and insisted they were great for helping with weight loss, and my first thoughts were — What the heck is an Infrared Sauna when it’s at home and how can sitting doing nothing burn so many calories?!

So I hopped online and started doing a little reading, I came across MidWestSaunas.com who sell far infrared saunas and offer a wealth of information on the subject. Apparently you really do burn a lot of calories while using one, because your body is working overtime to try maintain it’s core temperature and producing sweat — it makes perfect sense now I have had it explained, but I’d never given it any thought before…and I would have bet my bottom dollar my friend who originally mentioned it was telling porkies.

Oooops. Good job I don’t make bets with friends, huh?

If only my new house were big enough, I’d be all over getting me one of them!

So close

I have been looking at weight loss products recently, because I am hoping to find something to give my body a little helping hand! I am not talking about ‘miracle’ diet pills, just something natural that might help.

I already drink green tea and have been eating a lot of spicy food trying to boost my metabolism.

I am just so close to my next mini goal of being under 11 stone and out of the obese category, but can’t quite get there — in the last few weeks I have been 11 - 11.2 and every thing in between…but never 10 stone 13 pounds and 3 quarters or less. Argh.

Come on body!
